mar, peixes, ensopado, ponto cruz....

this was painted by a very close friend of mine some 20 years ago....I find it very beautiful!!!

and as summer is coming we always connect it with sea...and of course, some fish - a good stew, in this case I made a fish stew, called here moqueca - that is typical for the state of Bahia, I believe...I wasn't going to take any pictures at all, but the aroma was sooooo good, so I ran to take my camera...

the recipe is so, so very easy, only the ingredients on the picture, and the fish, of course...some dende oil - this is extracted from some kind of a palm tree - it can be optional, and I didn't use coconut milk, but if not using the dende oil it is good to use the coconut milk...all the ingredients in the pan, low heat and after some 20-30 minutes you've got this delicious moqueca/ fish stew!!!

and of course, I can't  post without some cross-stitch embroidery being included, right? so, here are some tiny stuff that I cross-stitched - ship, fish...all these to match today's topic ;)

This recipe is one of my favourite - it is easy and quick, and very delicious. I guess it is quite popular in the States. I got it 15 years ago or a bit more. I copied it from a recipe book I was lent by an american lady who was living in our town and doing some work at our local church. As I became a fan of the different kind of american recipes she lent the book and I copied all that I found interesting and delicious without ever tried it. This recipe is always a success, belive it!!!! But during the last few months I lost it and the good thing is that my old and good friend - the internet is always around to give a hand. I found the recipe and I want to share it with those who like to try new stuff. In fact, this is quite similar to the cereal bars that are sold at the super markets but this one is homemade and much more delicious.

Uma tarde na cozinha / One Afternoon In The Kitchen

Yesterday I really wanted to crochet as much as possible, in order to finish crocheting a sweater that I started .... unfortunately, I discovered that the second sleeve that I was almost halfway done was wrong and I had to start it over  ... then I decided to move to the kitchen. .. few days ago I found a carrot cake recipe ... I already have one that always gives right, but it seems that at home everybody is tired and I tried the new recipe, very different ... here's the recipe cake carrot

I also had to prepare something for dinner and there was some salmon ... oh, again my good old buddy helped me- the Internet - and I found something weird but as I like this kind of recipes I decided to give it a try.... it was a bit sweet, and I was out of brown sugar as it was in the recipe, perhaps if I had the taste would be different .... here's the recipe salmon with honey and coconut...

It is Monday, I didn't do anything, I was actually looking for some things I need in order to realize some projects that I have in mind. But today I will share a recipe that we all enjoy at home so much. Simple, easy and delicious. I do not remember very well but I think I got this recipe on TV Liberal from the state of Pará when we lived there. I searched to see how to translate this word and I found that CUCA comes from the German KUCHEN which means CAKE. Unlike the KUCHEN recipes that are with eggs the recipe I've got is without eggs and that is why I am convinced this is not a german recipe and yes, it is from the state of Pará.

1/2kg de farinha                                             1/2 kg flour
200g de manteiga                                           200g butter
1 xícara chá de açúcar                                   1 cup sugar

canela em pó                                                  cinnamon, powdered
50g ralado parmegiana                                    50g parmesan cheese, grated
10 bananas aprox.                                          10 bananas, aprox.

Numa tigela misture o açúcar e a canela e reserve.

In a bowl mix together the sugar and the cinnamon and keep aside.

In another bowl, using your fingers mix the flour with the soft butter until you get crumbs.

After this, cut the bananas longwise or in circles will be just fine.

Grease a pan with butter and start to place one banana layer, following a sugar+cinnamon layer, crumbs layer.

Normally, it takes two layers of each. The last is to be crumbs.

On the top sprinkle the parmesan cheese. Bake in pre-heated oven at 180C until golden, which takes around 30min. Cool and refrigirate.

Fica perfeito com um cafezinho! Bom apetite!
It is just perfect with a cup of coffee! Bon appetite!

This afternoon I was quite busy in the kitchen. It was an international sweets' afternoon :))) I made some brigadeiros - typical Brazilian sweet - at home everybody likes except me ... I made lemon  muffins with chocolate frosting - a typical American or at least the recipe I made ... and I made something half sweet half sour, using dough for pastries, baked in the oven with cheese + sugar + baking soda + eggs= bánitza - it is a typical Bulgarian dish. Of course what I do is not exactly the same as the Bulgarian bánitza but it is the closest I get ... at least everyone likes ....the recipes of the lemon muffins and the frosting I found in the net...

It is Saturday, day to rest, everybody is at home and I decided to make some cheese bread - it is a typical recipe from the state I live in Minas Gerais. It turned out soooo yammyyy!!!!. I always thought it was a hard to do recipe and gives a lot of job. But as everybody insisted at home for me to make these breads I had to adventure myself and I got quite satisfied and so did everybody at home :))

E aqui está a receita \ And here is the recipe receita \ recipe
